Martin Schneider, Chairman Martin Schneider serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Peer Health Exchange. He is a Managing Partner at Fine Capital Partners, a hedge fund based in New York City. Marty is the Founder and former President of Health Pages, a consumer website devoted to providing consumers with background, experience, and quality information about health care providers. He is also the Founder and former President of Physician Hospital Alliance, a company that provided out-patient medical services. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Informed Patient Institute, a Trustee of The Washington Institute, and as a Board member of the International Center for the Disabled. He received a BA from Amherst College, an MBA from the University of Chicago and an MSc from The London School of Economics. Marty lives on the Upper West Side with his wife and three children, and when his hip isn't bothering him he runs marathons.
Larry Berger Larry Berger is CEO and co-founder of Wireless Generation, an education company that has pioneered the adaptation of emerging technologies to improve PreK-12 teaching and learning. Mr. Berger led the invention of Wireless Generation's mCLASS system, which enables educators to administer early reading and math formative assessments using handheld computers and then immediately receive results, analysis, and support for differentiated instruction. Today, Wireless Generation serves more than 3 million children and hosts one of the largest databases of longitudinal student data in the country. Mr. Berger was a 2007 inaugural Fellow for the Entrepreneurial Leaders for Public Education Program. He serves on the board of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and on the Board of Overseers for the Annenberg Institute on School Reform at Brown University.
Patrice King Brickman Patrice currently enjoys serving on several non-profit boards. Her primary passion has been around poverty and homelessness, and she has worked most intimately with that population. She serves on the board of the Washington Area Women's Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to serving women and girls throughout the region living in poverty, ultimately helping them create financial independence. She also serves on the board of the Upward Bound Foundation, a nonprofit that provides gap funding for at risk children who have received scholarships for college, but lack the funding for "everything else" it takes to actually succeed once there. She serves on the Board of the Holy Child School, a high school in Potomac Maryland, where her oldest daughter attends school. She is currently chairing a Capital Campaign, and is working on a new Strategic Development plan. She serves on the Advancement Committee of the Norwood School, where her other three children attend school. She served for eight years on the board of the National Center for Children and Families, a nonprofit that serves the local homeless community, as well as at risk youth. There are seven programs ranging from a homeless shelter, girls and boys home, a school, independent living, and treatment foster care. She chaired a successful $15M Capital Campaign, built a Community Playground, and organized and ran a job fair for homeless women that still runs today. She worked directly with clients around employment, and active parenting. She enjoys hiking with girlfriends regularly, coaching soccer (8 year old girls) running, skiing, scuba, surfing, and most of all snuggling her kids. Her latest interests are around holistic integrative nutrition.
Lauren Dutton Lauren consults with various educational nonprofits and foundations. In addition to Peer Health Exchange, she serves on the Board of Directors for KIPP Bay Area Schools. She is a member of the first class of The Aspen Institute's Entrepreneurial Leaders for Public Education Fellowship program. For six years, Lauren was as a Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund, where she focused on investment strategy and management assistance to portfolio ventures in the Charter Accelerator Fund. Prior to joining NewSchools, Lauren was Vice President for Development at Edison Schools and served as Director of New Site Development for City Year where she led the expansion of the Boston-based urban service corps to seven other cities. She was Founding Executive Director of Teach for America in Oakland, California, and she began her career as a management consultant with Bain & Company in San Francisco. Lauren received her bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley and her MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she worked with other student leaders to launch the Public Management Initiative on Social Entrepreneurship. She spent an additional year at Stanford as a Research Associate in the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. She is married and has two young boys.
Laura Fisher Laura Meier Fisher is actively involved in education non-profits in the Bay Area and nationally. She serves on the boards of KIPP Bay Area Schools, The Urban School, Leadership Public School, Stanford Philanthropy and Civil Society, the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity and the Center for Civic Engagement of Lick Wilmerding High School. She also has served on the boards of the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Stanford School of Education, The Breakthrough Collaborative (formerly Summerbridge National) and The San Francisco Day School. Laura graduated with a BS in Economics from Stanford University in '84. She resides in San Francisco with her husband and four children.
Michael Grobstein Michael Grobstein is a retired Vice Chairman of Ernst & Young LLP, an independent registered public accounting firm. He is a Director of Given Imaging Ltd where he chairs both the Executive Committee and the Audit Committee and serves on the Compensation and Nominating Committee. He is also a Director of Bristol-Myers Squibb where he chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Compensation and Management Development Committee. He serves on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Central Park Conservancy. He chaired the Board of the New Yorkers for Parks from 2002-2007 and CORO-NY from 1999-2002. He previously served as a Director of Guidant Corporation.
Barbara Krasa Kelly Barbara has served on the Board of Directors of Peer Health Exchange since its inception. She is a Counsel to the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom LLP in New York specializing in risk management for the Firm. She has been an advisor to and served on the boards of the Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association, the American Fund for Czechoslovak Relief, and Grameen America. She received her B.A. from Yale University and her J.D. from Fordham University. She and her husband have two grown daughters and live in New York City.
Louise Davis Langheier Louise is the CEO and Co-Founder of Peer Health Exchange. She serves on the Board of Directors of Dwight Hall at Yale - the University's Center for Public Service and Social Justice - and Generation Citizen. Louise graduated from Yale with a B.A. in History in 2003. While in New Haven, she co-founded and directed Community Health Educators, the student volunteer program out of which Peer Health Exchange, Inc. grew.
Anne R. Lovett Anne is a Director of Peer Health Exchange and is president of PHE Boston's Board of Overseers. She also serves as vice-chair of the Board of Trustees of the Boston Children's Museum, an overseer of the New England Aquarium, and an overseer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. Anne graduated from Yale University and pursued graduate studies at the Sorbonne in Paris. She lives in Boston with her husband and three children. Scott Pearson Scott Pearson is the Associate Assistant Deputy Secretary of Education, where he serves as deputy in the Office of Innovation and Improvement. His portfolio includes issues of school choice and charter schools, innovation, and education for military families. Prior to joining the Department he was active in civic affairs in San Francisco, including co-founding and serving as board chair for Leadership Public Schools, a charter management organization serving low-income communities with college-preparatory high schools. Mr. Pearson has had a long career in business with America Online and Bain and Company, and served as a trade negotiator during the Clinton Administration. He is married to Diana Farrell and has two children. Stanley Rosenzweig Stan Rosenzweig is a retired executive currently managing family investments. He is on the board of a number of consumer product companies and is actively searching for new opportunities in this area. From January of 2002 through June of 2007 he was President of Euro-Pro corporation, a $350 million consumer products company based in Boston. In that capacity he built the "Shark" brand into one of the leading floor care companies in North America. From June 1991 through December 2001 he was Chief Operating Officer of the Holmes Group. In that capacity he was responsible for managing and growing the organization from a $40 million importer of cooling fans to a globally integrated designer, manufacturer and distributor of consumer appliances with over $650 million in sales. Stan received his AB in Government from Harvard College in 1987 as well as his Masters degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1991. He lives in Brookline, MA and has 4 children.
Marci Spector As Associate Partner on the Portfolio Team, Marci leads New Profit's investment selection process, continually working to hone our investment criteria, improve our ability to source outstanding social entrepreneur-led organizations, and rigorously evaluate organizations for investment. Additionally, Marci works in concert with the Portfolio Team to provide strategic support to our portfolio organizations. Prior to joining New Profit in November 2008, Marci co-founded Impact Pediatrics International, Inc., a nonprofit that launches outcome-oriented, sustainable health programs designed to improve the wellbeing of children living in global resource-limited settings. Marci also has five years of experience in healthcare investing and consulting for Perry Capital, a New York City-based hedge fund, and The Advisory Board Company, a healthcare consultancy in Washington, DC. She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Economics and Politics, and received a Masters of Science in Healthcare Management and Policy from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Patricia G. Warner In addition to being a founding member of the Board of Peer Health Exchange, Patsy sits on the Board of Hospital for Special Surgery and is Co-Chairman of their Capital Campaign. She also sits on the Administrative Board of the Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and is a former board member of the Green Vale School, Millbrook School, and St. Andrew's School. She has recently been elected to the Board of Little Traverse Conservancy in Northern Michigan. Patsy is an avid golfer and interior decorator. She has been married to her husband, Sandy Warner, for 33 years and has 3 children.
Timothy A. Wilkins Timothy A. Wilkins is corporate partner in the international law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. He has extensive experience representing Asian, European and US multi-national corporations, including health care clients, on cross-border M&A and joint ventures. A Chambers Global highly recommended lawyer in M&A in Japan, Tim has 11 years experience working in Tokyo as an investment banker and lawyer, and serves as a member of the firm's Global Diversity Committee. Tim also sits on a number of not-for-profit Boards. He is Chair of the Steering Committee of The Opportunity Agenda and a member of the Board of Trustees at The Dalton School and the Practicing Lawyers for Law Students (PALS). He also serves on the Advisory Board of Legal Outreach and Equality Now. Tim is a Ford Foundation Fellow in Public International Law and a graduate of Harvard College, Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. He is a frequent lecturer at universities and professional conferences on topics of international law and policy.
Frank Williams Frank serves as Executive Chairman of The Advisory Board Company, a best practices research, consulting and technology provider to over 3,000 member organizations in the Healthcare and Higher Education sectors. During Frank's tenure, The Advisory Board Company completed an Initial Public Offering in 2001 and has grown to $250MM+ in annualized revenues with over 1,100 employees. Prior to joining The Advisory Board, Frank served as the President of MedAmerica OnCall, Vice President of Vivra Inc., and a Management Consultant for Bain & Co. He also serves as a board member of Sheridan Healthcare, MarketForce and Imagination Stage.
