Outreach and Development Intern

Description
Peer Health Exchange (PHE) gives teenagers the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions. We do this by training college students to teach a comprehensive health curriculum in public high schools that lack health education. The Outreach and Development Intern will support PHE staff by assisting with development research and grant writing, creating weekly news summaries on topics relevant to PHE, and performing general administrative tasks.
This is an unpaid position requiring a commitment of at least eight hours per week. Candidates are encouraged to seek outside funding to support their work at PHE.
Responsibilities
The PHE Outreach and Development Intern will:
- Provide development support by:
- Researching potential PHE funders.
- Assisting with the preparation of grant proposals.
- Provide communications support by:
- Researching weekly news developments on topics relevant to the PHE mission by reviewing national and city-specific news sources, reviewing e-mail updates from health- and education-related news feeds, and signing up for updates from additional news sources.
- Creating an electronic news summary with links to news stories on the internet and circulating weekly news summaries to staff.
- Assisting with the preparation of PHE press folders.
- Assist the National staff as necessary.
Qualifications
Peer Health Exchange is looking for someone who:
- Has or is pursuing a bachelor’s degree
- Has excellent research, writing, and editing skills
- Has strong interpersonal skills
