National Finance and Accounting Intern

Peer Health Exchange (PHE) is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to give teenagers the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions. We do this by training college students to teach a comprehensive health curriculum in public high schools that lack health education. The PHE Finance and Accounting Intern will assist the Director of Finance and Administration with various financial projects as well as performing some office duties. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting or business major to acquire relevant hands-on experience.
The internship requires a commitment of at least 3 months at approximately 10 hours per week. We prefer 2 days at 4-5 hours each, but are flexible for the right candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities
The finance and accounting intern will:
- Help with bookkeeping tasks including AR and AP data coding, entry, and processing.
- Create, organize, and maintain vendor files.
- Assisting in modifying budget templates.
- Provide administrative support.
- Other ad hoc finance projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Motivated and willing to learn.
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to follow directions and produce work that contains a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Adept at using Excel.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks software preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles preferred.
- High level of integrity and trust worthiness.
- Can work independently, as well as part of the team.
Current college student majoring in Accounting or Finance related major is preferred.
