Peer Health Exchange Los Angeles launched its operations in 2009. For over 10 years, Peer Health Exchange Los Angeles has served more than 25,000 high school students and trained over 3,000 volunteer health educators. Today, Peer Health Exchange Los Angeles is serving thousands of young people across Greater Los Angeles in communities such as East LA, South LA, and the San Fernando Valley.
According to data from the 2015 CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey, among LA high school students, 10% binge drink alcohol. Nearly 19% are sexually active and 38% of these sexually active teens did not use a condom the last time they had sex. Furthermore, 9% have experienced dating violence and 8% have attempted suicide.
